📻 🎵 🎧 Here is my second mix: No. 2 – Hip Hop

This mix begins with a song that is sampled in the opening track Kendrick Lamar’s 2015 album: To Pimp A Butterfly. Kendrick’s sample of Boris Gardiner’s ‘Every N*gger is a Star’ is a means of turning a negative into a positive; changing a racial slur into an identity to be proud of. This song sets the tone for the entire playlist.

This is a mix of hip hop music. It’s intended to capture the particular zone of hip hop that I love. Not quite rap, not quite r&b. No. Just hip hop.

I understand this is not classic hip hop. This is my hip hop.
