Composite Systems is an exploration of developing a facade system by combining a pattern from nature and a pattern from textiles. I investigated desiccated earth as seen in Death Valley, CA and warps and wefts of weaving fabric. These two systems are combined into a dynamic facade, made of a tectonic zig-zag track system. This apparatus allows for responsive shading and ventilation. Ultimately, this system is applied to a mixed-use building featuring a ground floor market and offices above.
